A Transitional Paradigm

I believe that the print paradigm is a transitional paradigm that will fade away over time. Now and in the near future, however, it does serve several useful functions.

Since it is ingrained into our intellectual consciousness, it allows beginning WEB authors to focus on the mechanics of HTML page layout without the added cognitive load of mastering a new paradigm. Secondly, it allows us to rapidly throw up existing documents, thus providing the critical mass of content that the WEB needs to maintain sustained interest.
