The structure of the Internet at the network level is a web; the nodes are the host computers, the links are the connections between these computers. This underlying structure greatly facilitated the implementation of the WEB, both at a technical level and at a philosophical level.
The use of standardized protocols on the Internet allows any publicly accessible information on any Internet host computer to be accessed transparently from any computer connected to the net.
The combination of the web structure and the use of standardized protocols allows the WEB to be realization of the Docuverse proposed by Ted Nelson.
